Captain William Dawkins
William, my 5th Great Gtandfather, was born. about
1726 in Northumberland Co., VA and died. about 1800 in Jefferson Co., GA. The
location of his grave is unknown.
His father was John Dawkins born. 11 Nov 1705 in Northumberland Co., VA. His mother
was Frances ? born about 1705 in VA.
William was a Revolutionary War Patriot serving as a Captain in the South
Carolina Militia under Colonel Waters. He was taken prisoner on June 5, 1780 and
was held until Jan 3, 1781. He re-enlisted on Feb. 1 1781 and served as a
private under Colonel Walters and General Pickens.
