Lee/Wideman Connection
Beulah
Lee is the daughter of William Owen Lee ( September 29, 1820 - October 18,
1874 ) and Lucy Ann Wideman. William Owen Lee and Lucy Ann Wideman married on
August 3, 1845.
They
had a lovely two story home in Loan
Oak, GA. The house is still standing.
They
are both buried in Loan Oak, Merewether County, GA, at the Allen-Lee
Memorial Church cemetery ( prior to the completion of the new building in 1939,
it was known as the New Prospect Methodist Church ). William Owen Lee donated
the land for the church and its cemetery. ( 3310,475 8448.661 )

William Owen Lee ( photograph below ) is a son of Zechariah
Lee ( ca 1780 - Jan/Feb, 1843 ) and Rebecca Brock ( ca 1790 - May 7,
1863 ). They were married ca 1808-09 in Union County, South Carolina. They are
both buried at Rock Chapel Methodist Church cemetery
( 3345.455 8404.728 ) in Gwinnett County, GA.

Rebecca Brock Lee
Zechariah Lee was born in Caswell, Orange or Person
County, NC about 1780, most likely in Caswell near the crossroads of Leasburg,
being the son of Owen Lea ( who was a Revolutionary War Patriot ) and
Elizabeth "Betty" Wright.
Heinrich Wideman's wife Mary Obendorff died giving
birth to Adam Wideman during the crossing to America on the ship "Sandwich"
in 1750. The ship left from Rotterdam with a stop at Crows. Rotterdam was the
most common departure point for 18th century German immigrants after having gone
down the Rhine River. She was buried at sea. Adam was turned over to a
lighthouse keeper to raise. Adam died in 1842 and is
buried in the Wideman-Harris-Willis
Grave Yard ( N33 59.482 W82 22.416 ) on his land, the Dansburg
plantation, out in the woods in the middle of nowhere. Adam, a Patriot who
served in
the South Carolina militia during the Revolutionary War and was also a pirate. Adam Wideman married
Millie Harris. They had a son Henry
Wideman. Henry ( b 1789 - d 1835 in
Troup County, GA ) married Frances Roberts and had a daughter, Lucy Ann Wideman
( photo - b 1825, Abbeville, SC - d 1913 in Loan Oak, GA ), my
2nd Great Grandmother.
